Mindanao Harvest 1 and 2 finally took shape after three years and two memorandum of agreement. Waiting for the introductions to be written were well worth it. While other numerous details and the correct information on the works included here took eternity to reach us, most of the needed information came with profuse apologies in handwritten letters we greatly appreciated.

And before we could tear out all our hair over such inconveniences, other pressing commitments had to be fulfilled. Indeed, time is fleeting and precious.

But inconveniences notwithstanding, we are proud to present the 12 stories, 65 poems, and 3 plays by 24 contemporary writers born or based in Mindanao who are gathered here together for the first time.

These two volumes of Mindanao Harvest therefore affirm that contemporary Mindanao writing is just as robust, sensitive, and technically sound as writing being done in other parts of the country today. May these offerings be the stimulus or inspiration, if you will, to open new avenues for more contemporary works from Mindanao.
