Abstract
Shown in retrospect in this, a theater-piece and portrait of the man and hero, is the conflict between the Spaniards and the Rizal family-between oppressors and oppressed. It ended Rizal’s life by musketry, seemingly his defeat, but actually and eventually, the martyr’ s moral victory.

In general, the Filipino ilustrados of this land had refused to support the revolution against Spain. But when Rizal-himself an ilustrado-was executed, his death constituted "a transgression into their illustrious ranks," and sparked the ilustrados’ shifting their significant social weight to the side of the revolutionary masses. "The people gained another martyr, a powerful rallying symbol."

In Her Son, lose Rizal, our hero recalls certain significant events in his life and the sufferings of the Rizals (shown in flashbacks). This, as he writes his valedictory "My Last Farewell" in his prison cell in Fort Santiago, on the eve of his execution.
