This book tackles the concern that teaching ought to be based on research evidence to encourage more practicing teachers to do research in the likelihood that the research results would enhance their own practice.

“Research-Based Teaching and Learning” tries to bridge the gap not only between teaching and research but also between teaching and learning. With the current emphasis on outcomes-based education, the authors have advanced the theory that the effective link between evidence-based teaching and outcomes-based learning could be the effective use of the research process.

To expound these concepts, the book discusses the following topics: Teaching as a Research-Based Profession: Ensuring Learning Outcomes Through Research; The Teacher as Researcher; Research Methods and Techniques in Ensuring Teaching and Learning Outcomes; and The Use of Statistics in Teaching and Learning. The last chapter is devoted to suggestions on how to prepare a research proposal with samples of the pertinent sections of the proposal.
