Abstract
Classroom Experiences with Young Children is one in a series of six titles designed for students and teachers of the Preschool Specialization [PS].

Classroom Experiences with Young Children consists of four modules which are basically about the processes that the prospective preschool teacher should go through to equip himself/herself in the world of children in school through practicum. A preschool practicum experience is designed to assist prospective preschool teachers in gaining experience while working with young children and thru hands-on learning in preschool settings.The prospective preschool teacher is expected to take the primary responsibility for learning.Thus, this book will serve as a manual and work text as well. Instruction methods in this book will include, but not be limited to, supervised demonstration, observation, and conferences. Experiences in developing skills in establishing learning environments, observation/assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating currL culum and materials appropriate for the young child are likewise included.

Classroom Experiences with Young Children aims to help the prospective preschool teacher to:

*transfer educational/child developmental theories into practice which provide wide-ranging, multi-media and developmentally appropriate learning experiences to young children;

*plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children from 3 to 8 years of age based on the curriculum framework and desired outcomes of preschool education;

*demonstrate the ability to follow policies, regulations, and routines of the early childhood setting and/ or the supervising college program;

*be skillful in observation and to apply his/her knowledge of child development to design a learning environment that meets the needs of each individual child;

*develop appropriate communication skills with peers, staff, parents, and children;

*analyze the results of various observations and techniques used with children from 3 to 8 years of age;

*journal and reflect on guidance/interaction techniques used at the Practicum; and

*demonstrate the ability to practice professional ethics and integrity.

The modules in Classroom Experiences with Young Children offers content and activities for the prospective teacher to have a full grasp on The Early Childhood Educator and His Profession [Module l], which includes lessons on The Personal and Social Qualities; The Professional Qualities and Ethics; and the Instructional Competencies expected from the preschool teacher.

To be more prepared on the pedagogical aspect of teaching, Revisiting the Components in Teaching Preschool [Module 2] shall retool the prospective preschool teacher on the skills of Lesson Planning; Production of Instructional Materials; and Managing Teaching-Learning Process that encompasses skills in Communication,Teaching Strategies,Classroom Management, and Evaluation and Remediation Procedures.

Having been ready and prepared toward the core of the practicum, prospective teachers shall then be provided with experiences on Observation of Teaching/Demonstration [Module 3]. Pointers for Observation and hands-on experiences on the Routinary Activities in Demonstration Teaching are included. Forms for observation and evaluation of demonstration teachings are provided in this book.

Since the work of the preschool teacher does not limit itself to teaching, Ancillary Activities [Module 4] are likewise provided so that one may better improve his / her craft of teaching through professional readings, accomplishment of school forms, journal and reflections, school service and action research.

This book is intended for at least three kinds of readers:
a] students of the practicum program in preschool;
b] cooperating teachers;
c] supervising instructors/professors.
