INTRODUCTION
A set-up where individuals from diverse backgrounds, different educational qualifications and varied interests come together to work towards a common goal is called an organization. The employees must work in close coordination with each other and try their level best to achieve the organization’s goals. It is essential to manage the employees well for them to feel indispensable for the organization. The management function in organizations is concerned with achieving effective performance in meeting the goals and objectives that keep the firm competitive and profitable. In carrying out their responsibilities, managers must utilize human resources to accomplish their goals. Managers are expected to balance the demands in the external environment with the resources and capability inside the organization to achieve a "strategic" fit between goals and accomplishment.
ABOUT THE BOOK
This book is an exploratory and introductory course which leads you to Organization and Management Certificate Level I. It covers seven units under three sections. These seven units are covered separately. In this book units have been presented to make each subject matter more interesting and easier to understand by the students. It aims to inspire learners In striving harder by developing a sense of responsibility and commitment as they go along with the course. Each section contains the scope, overview, objectives and further readings. The following are the salient features of the book:
Topics are logically arranged according to the course outline of the subject.
The use of simple language to facilitate a better understanding of each unit.
Illustrative examples of varying difficulties are presented to enhance the interest of students.
The provision of progress check test for every unit is given at the end of unit to strengthen the learning process of students.
