Abstract
This book is the output of the Consom‘um among Philippine Chn'stian University (PCU) Trinity College of Quezon City (TCQC) Wesleyan Umversity-Philippines (WU-P) and the first ever book utilizing the modular approach. Guided by some pmblcms encountered by both students and teachers in a College Algebra class and the ever changing demands of our society. the authors prepared this book which they fervently hope will suit the needs of the Filipino Christian students.

In this book, the modules have been presented to make each subject mattcrintcrcsu'ng and easier to understand by the students, particularly those who have developed the so-called “fear" of mathematics.

The authors keep a good balance between computation. application and theory. Some exercises include numerical problems to emphasize that the rules of algebra apply to honestto-goodness real numbers as well as to variables.

This book prepares the students to perform a wide range of algebraic computations and to apply algebra to a wide range of disciplines. They should have by then developed a solid base to continue building their mathematical skills in higher courses in algebra, calculus or finite mathematics.

Each module contains the scope, overview, objectives, and suggested readings.

The following are the salient features of this book:
1. The use of simple language to facilitate a better understanding of each module.
2. The use of illustrative examples of varying difficulties are presented to arouse the interest of the students.
3. The exercises for every lesson are given within the experience. interest and reach of the students.
4. The inclusion of different problems in the fields of business and economics. and other sciences provides the necessary background for each student’s endeavor.
5. The provision of exercises for every lesson in each module serves to strengthen the leaning process of the students.
