Abstract
This book is an attempt to offer ways of integrating the teaching of virtues or good habits into the elementary school curriculum. It comes in three parts: (1) understanding the child as a learner; (2) teaching virtues; (3) integrating virtues into the curriculum, particularly arts, language arts and literature, science, and social studies.
It is hoped that the lesson plans, which use materials that were carefully selected from textbooks currently used in the elementary level and other sources, can give teachers ideas on how to incorporate virtues into the teaching of different learning areas.
This book is intended for teachers in different phases of their career: the student-teacher who is still learning the art and science of teaching; the beginning teacher who needs teaching strategies in incorporating virtues into his/her lessons. It is for teachers of values or character education who desire to teach virtues using content from different learning areas. More importantly, this book is for the teacher who has devoted and will continue to devote his/her life to teaching children.
