Abstract
Field Study is a major change in the New Teacher Education Curriculum (NTEC) offered hand-in-hand with professional courses. Its importance as a subject cannot be overemphasized for the education students are able to link the theories on the teaching learning process with classroom practices guided by their mentors.

Field Study is intended to provide education students with practical learning experiences in which they can observe, verify, reflect on, and actually participate in the dynamics of the teaching-learning process in traditional school settings.

Field Study 1: The Learner's Development and Environment (2nd Edition) is our small attempt to ensure that our would-be teachers are properly guided and learn correct concepts and theories, and gain meaningful experiences and lessons in training for the teaching profession.

It covers all learning domains, namely the school as a learning environment, learners' characteristics and needs, classroom management and learning, learners' characteristics and learning activities, individual differences and the learning process, home-school link, and perceived roles of a teacher.

This slim volume also provides the education students and the instructor with suggested activities and questions that lead to the formulation of new and meaningful insights into the teaching learning process. Using the National Competency-based Teacher Standards as framework, the competencies included in the activity sheets sum up the necessary knowledge, disposition, and performance of would-be teachers. Moreover, it serves as reference and evaluation material for all those involved in experiential learning courses.
