Abstract
As the Philippines integrates with other Southeast Asian nations while the ASEAN 2015 is being implemented, more promising opportunities for doing business across cultures are created. As the world becomes even more globalized, it is crucial that the Philippines’ workforce be groomed for world-class standards through training and re-training in the art and science of being professionals.

Several research studies have proven that soft skills, beyond the hard skills of work know-how, create and nurture successful professionals. Hence, in order to succeed in today’s work environment and thrive in tomorrow’s competitive milieu, the acquisition, cultivation, and line-tuning of soft skills are highly essential. This book has been developed to anticipate and meet those needs. In fact, it has been designed to be a part of the educational process that produces top-notch professionals.

This text will be very useful for undergraduate students with service-, business-, or management oriented courses who, as projected by the HSBC and the 2012 Wealth Report, will lead the Philippine economy years from now. It is also beneficial to young professionals who have had a taste of corporate life. It can also be a valuable resource for business and corporate trainers. Additionally, it is a helpful companion to company-sponsored human resource programs for designing short courses and workshops.

The book is written in a non-linear way; hence, units need not be studied sequentially. Each unit provides enough activities to help students master one soft skill at a time. Although the book does not aim to be an encyclopedia of skills, it is a useful tool in boosting career growth and an effective handbook to be consulted time and again.
